Build its blue-and-white body, turn the mechanism and watch three connected sections sway in a swimming-style wave while the jaws open and close. With exposed gears and a neon-green illuminated rib cage, this shark has plenty going on beneath the surface.

• Watch it 'swim' on its stand: Three interconnected body sections sway from side to side while the jaw opens and closes and the main tail moves.
• See what makes it tick: The open side reveals moving gold, orange and silver gears.
• Add a little green glow: A toggle-operated LED light brick sends light through a fibre-optic tube to illuminate the mechanical rib cage.
• Strike a pose: Adjust the side fins, dorsal fin and tail-fin tip by hand.
• Give it pride of place: A raised brick-built stand makes the finished model a distinctive shelf or desk display.

Choose How They Make It Move

• Hand Crank: Turn the crank on the display base to drive the mechanism manually. The electric motor add-on is not included with this option.
• With Electric Motor Add-on: The motor drives the mechanism automatically, without continuously turning the crank.

Both versions animate the shark on its display stand. It does not travel across a surface or swim in water. The lighting is switch-operated separately from the movement.
